Cobram Fringe Project

Estimated Water savings 2 -3 GL of high reliability water share

Water for Rivers is actively planning in partnership with consultants to potentially rationalise over 18 kilometers of open channel that borders the growing township of Cobram, located on the Murray River.

This project is a potential joint initiative of consultants engaged by the Northern Victorian Irrigation Renewal Project, Water for Rivers together with the, Goulburn Murray Water and the Moira Shire council who have established a strategic planning overlay for the future expansion and development of the surrounding rural land. The land use is changing to rural residential style living hence the opportunity to progress system rationalisation and connection of a new stock & domestic delivery system utilising existing piped supply located nearby.

This project has progressed slowly due to the multidiscipline nature of the project and may require funding redirection into the reconfiguration program during Q1 of the 2011/12 financial year.
