Between Narrandera and Jerilderie, NSW
Estimated Saving - 20 Gigalitres
The Yanco Creek system is an important effluent system of the Murrumbidgee River which meets the Murray River system at Moulamein. This project will review all aspects of water delivery through the Yanco Creek system to identify the location and quantity of losses, and those measures which will return the most efficiencies and water savings.
The project will investigate options which include alternative water supply routes, regulating water flow into wetlands and breakouts, modification or removal of in-stream regulating structures, improved system gauging, and improved metering and monitoring of water use.
The Yanco Creek Efficiency project will result in water savings and more efficient delivery of water for irrigation, domestic and stock along the Yanco Creek and its tributaries. The extent of water savings from the project are estimated at 20GL.
