Hay Private Irrigation District (PID) Pressurised Stock and Domestic Scheme, NSW

The Hay PID is situated 2km north of Hay, covers an area of 36 square kilometres and supplies about 80 small farms with irrigation and stock and domestic water through a network of small channels.

The delivery of stock and domestic water through the open channel system in periods outside the irrigation season is inefficient. This project will provide a pressurised pipeline for the supply for stock and domestic water as an alternate, more efficient supply for stock and domestic. A feasibility report suggests savings of at least 0.5Gl of water savings. The savings are available through subdivision of the Scheme's conveyance allocation. Final design and planning approval will progress in 2007 followed by construction in autumn 2008.
