Normanville Pipeline Project - Victoria
Water Saved 3,900 ML (3.9 GL)
Victorian High Reliability Entitlement
The Normanville District stock and domestic water supply system covers an area of 68,000 hectares between Kerang, Quambatook and Boort townships, and some additional properties adjacent to the existing Normanville District. The system provides a pressure pipe supply to farm header tanks for reticulated supply to stock watering troughs used to service 150 properties.
The project replaced 335 kilometres of open channels with 295 kilometres of pipelines and delivers an estimated 400ML per year to the 150 properties. The scheme also replaced the existing water supply system to the township of Quambatook to provide greater security.
Benefits of the scheme:
- more reliable and better quality water to farms and towns on demand compared to a previous annual dam fill
- returned 3.9 gigalitres of water efficiency saving to the river system as environmental flows
