Alternative Water Supply - Forest Creek, NSW Stage 2
Water Saved 23,400 ML (23.4 GL) NSW Murrumbidgee High Security Entitlement In the past the Forest Creek below Warriston Weir received water from Billabong Creek to supply stock and domestic water to adjoining landholdings, as well as wetland systems. The Forrest Creek is a highly inefficient delivery system, with numerous weirs and cumbungi infestations creating barriers to flow and causing widespread silting and breakouts. This project has replaced the need to supply regulated flows over Warriston Weir and through the Forest Creek by providing alternative stock and domestic water supply systems piped from Billabong Creek. The project involved the provision of water supplies for four landholders. An ongoing element of the project is the identification of a watering regime and supply method for the wetlands along the creek. The project has realised 23.4GL of savings. |
